WATER RESOURCES

Spectre Ranch has some of the oldest water rights in the Deschutes Basin, dating back to 1899. Many water resource experts advise the ranch’s water rights are some of the most valuable water rights in the Basin, because the ranch has senior rights to divert irrigation water directly from Paulina Creek and approximately 3,780 acre-feet of stored water in Paulina Lake. The ranch controls the Dam which backs up water in Paulina Lake, thereby controlling the top 2.75ft of water stored across the entire lake. Late season creek and irrigation flows are maintained from the stored water in Paulina Lake.

Detailed information pertaining to the water rights can be obtained by contacting the OWRD District No. 11 Water Master, Jeremy Giffin, in South Central Office at (541) 306-6885.
