The Bighorn River Farm and Ranch is located east of Lovell, WY (14 miles, 22 minutes) and south of Billings, Montana (106 miles, 2 hours 6 minutes).

The property enjoys a warmer climate due to its location low in the Bighorn Valley with an elevation of 3,832’ and 127 frost free days; the climate offers a strong growing season. The Lovell area receives 14” of snow annually as compared to the US average of 28” per year. The annual average temperature ranges from 14 degrees to 89 degrees. The location and local climate contributes to the operation as a crop farm or winter feed base.

The Bighorn River Farm and Ranch is minutes from the Bighorn Lake. According to the Wyoming Office of Tourism, “Bighorn Lake extends approximately 71 miles through Wyoming and Montana, 55 miles of which are held within spectacular Bighorn Canyon. The lake gives boaters a chance to see the colorful canyon walls up close with either a motorized or non-motorized vessel. Bighorn Lake can be accessed by water sport enthusiasts at Horseshoe Bend Marina near Lovell, Wyoming” The Bighorn River is an internationally recognized blue-ribbon trout fishery. The reservoir is home to Brown and Rainbow Trout, Walleye and Sauger.



The Bighorn River Farm and Ranch consists of 719+/- acres of which 541 acres are irrigated with four Valley Pivots. The current owners have updating the pivots and nozzle packages for maximum efficiency. The farm is currently operated as a winter grazing unit, complete with exterior high tinsel fencing, new shipping corrals and six cattle drinking units each with six frost free drinkers. The current owner is wintering 500+ head for seven months.

The Bighorn River runs adjacent to the east side of the property providing an excellent fishing resource. The irrigation water is pumped directly from the river with a riparian water right which alleviates any concern for lack of water.

Local producers often average five tons per acre on newer alfalfa stands in the Lovell area which makes this property a great prospect for crops, grass or forage production.



The ranch has excellent improvements, including a four-bedroom, three-bath main ranch house, finished with a gourmet kitchen, large dining area, library/office, large hallways, and large bedrooms/bathrooms.
